If you have any concerns “Should you join the Hajj or not?”  Then pay attention to the importance of Hajj.

The importance of Hajj:

Hajj is one of five basic Islamic steps. If one refuses to perform Hajj then his relation to Islam can be broken. Because this journey is related to two beloved prophets, Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

Allah Almighty tested His Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) on 2 occasions. Firstly, He ordered his prophet to leave his son and wife alone in a deserted desert with a limited amount of sustenance. When Ibrahim left them alone in the desert. Then his wife and son faced a moment when all source of sustenance was gone.

Ibrahim’s wife’s name was Hajrh (RA) and his son’s name was Ismail (AS).

Ismail’s age at that time was in the category of infants. So he could not bear the thirst and started crying. A mother can never see her child in trouble. So she tried to find a way to help but there was no one else. She was constantly running between two hills (Safah and Marwa) to quench her son’s thirst. But she did not find any source of water.

There was no one but Allah who was watching them. Then Allah sent His angel to help them. Quranic verses confirm that Allah Almighty helped them through the spring of Zamzam.

Secondly, Allah commanded Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son. This was a test for Ibrahim and Ismail because Ishmail had reached the age of consciousness. God sent two sheep when a father tried to sacrifice his son. Thus both prophets succeeded in this test of sacrifice.

The Holy Prophet (SAW) was the last prophet of Allah and he performed Hajj in 632 CE. Before the time of the last prophet, nobody was familiar with the word Hajj. Because there was no idea of performing it. Muhammad (peace be upon him) performed Hajj only once in his life, but to achieve this he made many sacrifices in the way of his Lord.

So, every step of Hajj relates to an incident that happened in past.

Significance of Hajj in light of Hadiths:

Abu Hurairah (R.A.) reported that he heard from Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), “Whoever performs Hajj for the sake of Allah and does not utter any obscene speech or do any evil deed, will go back (free of sin) as his mother bore him.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari) …………………………………………………………………………………………………………….According to a narration by Hazrat Ayesha (RA), Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), in an event, said, “O Allah’s Apostle! We consider jihad as the best deed.” However, “The best jihad (for women) is Hajj Mabrur.” (Sahih Bukari; Haj; 595) …………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
