Life in the Beginning:
In Brooklyn, New York, Judge Judy was born to Judith Susan Blum. After graduating from James Madison Senior High School and American College in Washington, DC, Judy Sheindlin got married and took her maiden name as Judy Sheindlin. In 1965, Judy married Ronald Levy. After 12 years of marriage, the couple had two children and split up. She married Judge Jerry Sheindlin in 1977, and he later appeared on The People’s Court. Although they divorced in 1990, they wed the following year again. It’s a family affair for her, with Jerry having three stepchildren and 13 grandchildren.

Judge Judy sued Attorney John Haymond and his firm in 2014 for their representation of injured parties. She accused Haymond of using her tv image without her permission to promote their company in misleading advertisements. Even after she told the company she was leaving, the ads kept coming in. More than $75,000 in damages were sought in the lawsuit. An out-of-court settlement in Judy’s favour was reported.
