How To Contour Your Eyes Like A Pro With These Basic Tips

What does eye contouring mean?

Eye contouring is using makeup to enhance the natural eye shape. It is the same as face contouring: make the lighter areas stand out, the darker areas recede, and highlight the features you want to.

An eye mascara, eyeliner, and the best eyeshadow palette are all that are needed to get the job done. Remember, eye contour requires good products and gentle strokes as the skin on the eyelids is the thinnest.

That said, let’s get on with how to contour the eyes and make them look charismatic! 

STEP 1: Prep it Up!

Makeup works best on fresh, clean skin. And the same principle applies to the eye area. So, start with a good skincare routine for your eyes.

Cleanse and apply an under-eye cream and massage it for a minute. Apart from hydrating, many eye creams contain ingredients that prepare the skin for makeup and give a smooth, velvety finish. 

STEP 2: Apply a Primer

Luminising primer that acts as a good base and holds the eye shadow pigments in place. Following this step is crucial to highlight your makeup, make it stay longer, and prevent creasing.

STEP 3: Sweep and Blend the Eyeshadow

Carry on with the contour aesthetics by using lighter and darker hues. The play of light and dark shades produces contrast, which will give your eyes a different look. If you’re a beginner, it would be best to choose a brown eyeshadow palette for creating pleasant shadows around the eyes with a nuanced, nude-toned vibe. Here’s how to ace the look:

• Take the same shade and apply it to the outer corner in a C shape. As you do that, sweep lightly in the direction of the inner corner as well. 
• Next, blend the darker shade into the lighter shade to give your eyes a well-blended, smooth finish look. 
• Finally, gently tap a golden, shimmery shadow in the middle of the eyelid using your finger. This will make your eyes look vibrant.
