Jewelry – The simplest and most effective way to add style is with jewelry. Vintage brooch and necklaces add a touch of glamour to simple, understated outfits. They should complement, not be a distraction from your appearance.

Keen shoes were a little confusing for me when I first saw them. I first saw Keen shoes in a Blowing Rock, North Carolina hiking supply store. The Keen Newport style was a hybrid sandal and hiking shoe with a thick, molded sole. baby girl sandals I immediately thought of silly yodelers wearing lederhosen. They were very popular with their clientele, I discovered as I watched. I had a pleasant conversation with the salesman who extolled Keen footwear’s virtues. He hiked, rock climbed and bicycled in his Keen shoes. He couldn’t keep the shoes on the shelf. They were selling at the state fair like funnel cakes. Yet, I kept seeing yodelers
They were everywhere I went over the next few months. I began to count Keens. It was a Keenathon for kids, parents, and moms. Keen shoes are something I had never heard of before. I was a die-hard comfort-over-fashion diva. I had many Merrill’s, Dansko’s in my closet. Keen shoes, however, made me look dorky and fashionable. My next trip to the hiking store was a Keen adventure. I was fortunate to be able to grab a pair of Keen Newports red for only 40% because it was the end of the season. This is a great deal, I swear!
Do not let anyone tell your that love at first glance is impossible. These shoes were so comfortable and perfect for me. They fit perfectly in the nooks and crevices of my feet. They were held in place by the snug straps. An elastic cord could be used to adjust for more snugness. To prevent the inevitable rock-to-the-foot moment that we all have, the toe guard was integrated into the sole. Before I knew it, there was an audience who were admiring my Keen shoes and sharing stories about their Keens. It was like a family reunion, a gathering of like-minded souls, and a convention in shoe-ology.
