The story of sports goes all the way back to Ancient world. This physical exercise that evolved into sports had earliest connections to ritual, war and entertainment.

The study of the history of sport can provide insights regarding social change and the nature of sport in general since sport is believed to be involved with the growth of essential human abilities (compare the game). When one delve deeper into the past, the diminishing amount of evidence can make theories about the roots and motivations behind the sport increasingly difficult to verify.

It is probable that once the shift from hunter-gathering into farming as the main method of supplying food became the norm those who were previously designated to the Hunter job – and probably more physically suited to the task did not have the opportunity to apply their talents in a real-world setting which is why they instead engaged in the process of constantly preparing for hunting, and practicing the required skills.
